We came here in May with a large group of family for lunch on a Friday. They were a little busy but not what I would call swamped. Our St. Cloud family remarked that there was nowhere decent to eat in town (i think they're wrong) but that we could go to Anton's because the food is OK and the kids would enjoy feeding the ducks or something like that. (It's just so nice when you go to visit someone and they are so excited to see your kids that they keep them entertained for you! And you get 5 seconds to relax and eat something!) We had a large group and it took a while just to get seated - there seemed to be a lot of confusion over where they wanted to put us. They ran us up and down the stairs a couple of times before finally settling on a spot downstairs. Also the service was pretty slow. The food was pretty good though. I was asking the server about the salmon, was it farmed or wild, and she said she didn't know about the salmon specifically but that all of their meats are organically raised which was impressive. The menu had a lot to pick from which was also nice. The food was above average and the waitress brought us a couple plates of cookies to make up for the slow service. The atmosphere here is nice - great woodsy setting but very stereotypical Minnesota decor - a little dated. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars because I feel like they deserve more than three but with the slooooow service we got, just can't bring myself to give them four. But I would totally go back next time we find ourselves in St. Cloud.

Neat atmosphere (it's in a log cabin!), kind staff, and great food. The Place and the People: You drive over a small bridge to get into Anton's parking lot - kinda cool. The restaurant is in a log cabin and is quite sizey. The atmosphere is open and relaxed - you can hang out at the bar or sit at your table for a few hours and they'll take great care of you. Our waitress did a fantastic job handling a slightly rowdy group of 11. The Food: Pretty good. The popover was the most exciting thing we all ate - a big, hollow ball of sweet bread that is fantastic. The serving sizes are fairly good, but I was nowhere close to finishing my meal - could not believe how stuffed I was! The rest of the food was good, but I didn't hear anyone gushing over how fantastic their food was.

My son turned us onto this place while he attended St Cloud University. The place has a cute western feel to it, lot's of interesting antiques on the walls, perched on the river. Will write more when I have more time...

Great steaks, big-ass popovers. The only reason I wish I lived in Stearns County. This is a gem that must be visited to anyone living in, or passing through, the St. Cloud area.

It may have been the company that I was with. It may have been that I was hungry for comfortable and genuinely NICE places like this that just don't exist in Los Angeles. But I love this place. I love this place so much I want to keep it a secret, but given the population of Waite Park, I'll risk it. This is the spot that my lovely local friends chose for our last night in Minnesota. I had the Walleye (the state fish, doncha know) which came with awesome fresh baked popovers (I took one back home to LA for my man), a salad, and a side dish (I chose au gratin potatoes which I couldn't finish on the spot so I nibbled on it the whole plane ride home). I love that they didn't over salt ANYTHING, and everything was delicious! This is something that is impossibly hard to come by! We ate on a deck from which you can get a beautiful view of the river, the lush greenery, and the occasional kayaker. The staff was friendly, helpful, and informative - the avatar of Minnesota Nice. It was the best last meal together with beloved friends.

I've been in St. Cloud for not even a day, and Anton's is the first restaurant my girlfriend took me to. We got there around 4pm for lunch (hey, I'm from Vegas, what do you expect) and discovered it was happy hour. The hostess sat us on the upstairs deck overlooking the lake, and we ordered a couple beers. One beer was on special, and our waitress mistakenly thought it was all beers. She made up for her error by bringing us an extra popover with our food. I've never had a popover before, but it was this delicious eggy-bread concoction served with honey butter. I can now see why my girlfriend recommended I got my own, so the extra one wasn't put to waste. We also ordered a half price blackened chicken pizza, which came with onions and goat cheese on it, and a half price order of crab cakes that were heavy on the crab. The food was delicious, the prices were low, the service was great, and we had a nice view to boot. What more could you ask for?

I've been to Anton's several times, but I never knew: "Anton's proudly serves only 100% All Natural Angus Beef (and Chicken!). All of the beef we serve was raised without the use of hormones (ever!). No antibiotics are used (ever!). The cattle were raised on an all-natural 100% vegetarian diet (e.g. grass!) And best of all, they are certified Humane Raised and Handled." That's pretty cool, Anton's. It'd be even cooler if the cows didn't eat corn either. What are the chances? My steak was prepared as requested, rare. They serve a variety of quality beers at the typical markup, ridiculously overpriced low-quality wines (which doesn't affect my rating because I rarely drink "restaurant wine" around here), and boast one of MN's largest selections of scotch. I always enjoy the musty smell from the mostly annual, but not necessarily, flooding of the first level and find the decor delightfully tacky. Don't wear your best here, but please not only a t-shirt. And take off your ball cap, please.

The atmosphere and history of this place is what impresses from the start. Originally built in the 1920's, the log cabin building has been kept up well over the years. The view of the river, a fire in the fireplace, and historical items hanging on the walls make for a great date night or business lunch. I started with a scotch flight (The scotch selection is extensive). Micci started with a raspberry Bellini. I ordered the lamb chops and Micci ordered the Moonshine Sirloin. We were delighted with our meals with a special emphasis on the popovers. For dessert it was a pecan cheesecake drizzled with caramel. Although the price is high for regular dining, it makes a wonderful destination for special occasions, We highly recommend Anton's!

When visitors from out of town want to eat somewhere local and authentic I always take them to Anton's. I guess the view of the river, knotty pine walls, wagon booths, and up north cabin décor are what they expect because everyone always loves it. To be honest the food can sometimes be hit or miss but the pop-overs and walleye seem to be the best bet and when they are good they are great. I also appreciate the fact that they have more than two scotches behind the bar and servers that smile and make recommendations.

I have eaten here dozens of times over the years and have had great and poor experiences but the last few time have been so sub par that I felt that I needed to give a review. The new menu is easy to read and has some good new items but lacks the character of past menus but overall an improvement. The servers are good but seem to lack training. We noticed a few of them just standing around gossiping. But the most amusing part of the night was when the server told us that water and straws are by request only :) If they are being that cheap I cant imagine what corners they cut with the food.

Alright, the environment is nothing upscale like at a fancy restaurant in California, but the food is bomb yo! Good beer, good steak, good service, and good "popovers".

We took my Mother in-law here for birthday lunch on their recommendation. My husband and father in-law ordered the ribs and us ladies ordered the pan fried walleye. We were visiting from Texas so I was really looking forward to the Walleye. We cannot get walleye in Texas. I was so very disappointed. It tasted like they pulled it straight out of the freezer and then over cooked the heck out of it. The men reported that the ribs were just "ok". The popovers were very good and the scenery was nice. It is located right on the Sauk River. I probably would try the place one more time just to see if I hit it on an off day but overall I was not impressed.

We stopped here for dinner one night after reading the good reviews and are happy we did. For our entrees, we ordered the black n blue burger and the chicken raspberry salad. Both were excellent quality, well prepared and tasted great. The popovers are incredible! Decent list of wines and beers and reasonable prices to boot! The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars is that the service was rather slow. We were greeted and got a table right away. We arrived on the early side for dinner, the dining area was about half to two-thirds full. It took over 10 minutes just to get the wine and nearly 25 minutes for the salad and burger to arrive.

I came here for a nice dinner with my boyfriend and his family. It is a neat place hidden away! The parking lot was kind of annoying, we had to park on a gravel lot and walk a bit. The atmosphere is unique, it is rustic and put together very well. All of our meals came with fresh popovers, all of which were HUGE! They had sweetened whipped butter served on the side. It was absolutely amazing, incredibly tasty and I could have made a meal out of them! I ordered the Caramel Glazed Pork Medallions with asiago potatoes. The pork was incredibly tender and the glaze complimented it perfectly. The portion was very large and I wasn't even able to finish everything! The potatoes were freshly baked and super hot. I would order my entire meal again! The other five in my party ordered seafood, 4 walleyes and a tuna. Rave reviews from all of them, especially the two from California. They can't get walleye this good out there. Half of our party ordered tea, and the water came luke warm with lipton's tea packets. Tea tastes best when steeped in boiling hot water and it would have been nice to have more hot tea options. Beyond the tea and the parking lot, this place is great and on the top end for St. Cloud dining!

I've never had anything bad at this place! Everything is AWESOME!!! Prices for dinner can get spendy but you are getting high quality food so its worth it. My husband and I usually go for lunch or happy hour because those prices are just awesome !! We leave feeling like we robbed the place! Hahaha! Their happy hour is sort of a well kept secret but its awesome for those who know about it!! I think the times are like 4-6pm and if you sit in the bar area, you get dirt cheap appetizers and drink specials. Ive had every appetizer on their menu and they are all OUT OF THIS WORLD. Anything on their menu that has the Boursin sauce is guaranteed to be awesome. I would reccommend this place for anything - celebrations, date nights, quick lunch, happy hour especially. Best place in St Cloud by far!!

I grew up spoiled by Anton's... until moving up in the world, and out, and around, etc., I had no clue that an "Antons" was not evident everywhere. It is not a chain establishment; it is privately owned, but the food is consistently as good as if it were an upscale chain. The casual atmosphere, rustic "log cabin" feel, the genuine care of the waitstaff, the beautiful view, the POPOVERS and whipped honey-butter....spoiled. Style pervades: the conviviality and casual air of the waitstaff paired with fantastic (and difficult to find--the popovers!) food and a beautiful view of the river. If you are looking for a fine dining establishment, Anton's would not be the first choice, but if you are looking for a unique experience with great food and a relaxing atmosphere, Anton's is a winner. Recommendations: crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer, filet mignon, lamb chops or crab legs, and don't miss the popover with honey butter.

I've been here a few times a few years back and the mashed potatoes stand out the most to me. So I guess I don't remember the main dishes. Although, I do think this has one of the best ambiences in St. Cloud. Right next to the Mississippi its good in the day or at night.

Pleasantly surprised. After driving through an industrial area we came upon Anton's. It was a quiet haven tucked away next to the river. The service was good and the food was delicious.

Skip it. Or at least don't order a steak, or perhaps medium rare means well done at Antons.

My wife and I enjoy Anton's for the quiet atmosphere, the river, and the big-as-your-head popovers. The food, I have to be honest, can be hit or miss, but we've had more hits than misses. I've enjoyed the salads and the pork tenderloin. My wife has enjoyed the chicken dishes. What you won't find here is a noisy, loud, television-infested dining room. Rather, it has a log-home eclectic decor which is truly local. During the spring/summer/fall it's fun to watch the geese, ducks, and other waterfowl while you're dining. This is a nice place for a date, and being located close to the Marcus Parkwood Theater, it makes for a good before- or after-movie place to eat.

Probably the nicest restaurant in the St Cloud area, and one I like to visit at least once a year. The food here has always been amazing, and the service here is great. Is it a bit pricy? Yes. Is it worth it? In my opinion, absolutely. Will hopefully return soon.

I was driving from Fargo to Minneapolis on a Thursday night and was hungry and saw Anton's sign from the road. You drive over a little bridge and into a huge hidden parking lot and see this huge log cabin known as Anton's. It's like something from a movie. It was the holidays so the place had all kinds of Christmas lights inside which gave it a nice feel. I sat at the bar and had the NY Strip steak with salad and a huge piece of bread - also baked potato. My total with tax and tip was under 30 dollars. I took a quick look around and the outside patio looks awesome in the summer.

Had dinner here while on business, the folks we were meeting with said go to Anton's. We did, the group of us from CA and we were impressed. Great beer, super food. The steaks were great, the appetizers hit the spot, the beverage list nicely done and the food was universally first class. The server helped make the desserts so we tried it, multi talented was she. The views were relaxing and it is easy to get to. and yes the popovers, huge, soft and wow !!

I love this place. Right on the river for awesome scenery and it has a cute and unique ambiance with some little covered wagon booths for privacy. The service was always good and the food was delicious. My favorite is the Shrimp Boursin. So worth the calories and I liked it so much I order it every time I go there! This is a great little place and I highly recommend it.

I've been to Anton's twice, once for some mid-afternoon appetizers and beer, and then recently for the rehearsal dinner before my wedding. I will certainly return here the next time I'm in the Saint Cloud area so I can have a more normal dinner experience, because everything I've had so far was delicious. Plus, the popovers here are roughly the size of a human skull. I was amazed. The decor of this place is great. The main area has a rustic log cabin feel, but there are several other rooms that have different and interesting decor. In back there is a terrific view of a stream (the Sauk River, maybe?) and many geese and ducks that are just hangin' out in the small area between the restaurant and the river. All in all, terrific Minnesota food, fun yet classy decor, great views, and fantastic service for a banquet dinner.

This is now my fave restaurant in St. Cloud. Came for a business dinner. The popover bread is uh-maze-ing. Crispy on the outside, light and airy, yet moist on the inside. I've had something similar at the Neiman Marcus restaurant in Honolulu, and this was just as good. For my main entrée I had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. Very juicy. The waitstaff here were very polite and attentive. I will have to return on my next trip.

Arrivals amazing with authentic/old decor of what was a speak easy... Definite locals place and has a history! Meal started with their famous pop-over bread and addicting honey butter and house salad with homemade ranch... Delicious. Enjoyed the broiled Walleye from Canada (fresh and not frozen) and curried Calliflower --- all light and yummy! The place needs music and polish, but it seems to work as a family restaurant, complete with screaming kids. Service was great.

Came here for Valentine's Day. We didn't have a reservation, but we were happy to find a high-top in the bar area right away. The restaurant has an old 'supper club' type feel to it. It's like a log-cabin restaurant you'd find up north. We ordered a Caesar salad to split, and it came with their gigantic popovers and honey whipped butter. These popovers were the best part of the meal, doughy and perfect on the inside & that honey whipped butter is like crack. Addictive & probably not good for you. For our entrees, I chose the Stuffed Shrimp -Seafood Stuffed Shrimp with Boursin sauce ($21). My boyfriend chose the Bone-In Bleu New York -a 16 oz. New York Strip ($26). The shrimp was drowning in what tasted like regular Alfredo Sauce. Our server said the seafood stuffing was crab, but I didn't taste anything but soggy bread crumbs. My loaded mashed potatoes were dry. Thank God I had all of that Alfredo sauce left-over to dip them in. My boyfriend said his steak was super fatty, as he described it 'the kind of fat that's more like tendons you can't chew through'. Considering the price tag of these entrees, we both agreed it was disappointing. The positives: Hidden-in-the-woods resort style atmosphere, romantic setting, cool bar area, great service The negatives: Very poor quality food for the price tag Overall, we both agreed that it's a great place to have a cocktail, but we wouldn't buy dinner again.

Old supper club in a great location, but I will be surprised if it is still open the next time I drive by. Served a glass of CA Cab that had been open for too many days (although when I asked, the bartender did acknowledge it had been open for 3 days and was scheduled to be tossed tonight). My fault for ordering mussels in Minnesota, but I had my heart set on the sriracha mussels at the Whitehorse (which was sadly closed tonight-hence why here). I wouldn't even have written this review, as I typically prefer to promote the positive experiences, but I was abandoned for :15 and just wanted my experience to end... I blame this one on me, as I typically pull back out of a primarily empty parking lot - even if recommended by my hotel. Do what I should have, skip it.

Came here for dinner with Coworkers and we were all starving. We all ordered seafood ( Orange roughy, walleye and shrimp) with Monster Mash flatbread for appetizer. All the entrees come with a very HUGE popover. We shouldn't have ordered the flat bread although it was pretty tasty and interesting. The flat bread had slices of beef sirloin, pork belly, big dices of potatoes, sour cream and tons of cheese. It was very interesting and tasted pretty good. Service was good and food came out pretty quick. Will probably come back here again during when I'm back in St. Cloud.

Scenic and charming with big pours of wine and fabulous duck. Popovers a hit. The young college student who waited on our table took good care of us and other tables in his area. Never rushed but never waited for the next portion of the meal. If you are in Saint Cloud, skip the chain restaurants and go to Antons.

The atmosphere here was nice, and it is a very unique place. Lots of quirky decorations, especially for Halloween. The menu looked great, I had a hard time deciding so I asked the waitress for recommendations. Never had a popover before, and that was pretty good. The Soup was great, but there was an Upcharge to add soup or salad to an already overpriced entrée with one side selection. We waited a long time for our food, plenty of time after finishing our soup and popovers. I ordered the chicken boursin and it was not very impressive. The meat was kind of chewy and didn't have much flavor at all. The potatoes were a little burnt. Pretty unspectacular, overall.

Always a solid place to eat and a fun independent place to bring out-of-town guests. Brought my mom here for mothers day and we ate at the bar. Service was great, no complaints. I wouldn't say the fish tacos where the best I've ever had, but they were passable. I was raised in a fishing town, so when the menu says 'halibut' I can tell when it's cod! However I've lived in the midwest so long, my standards and sense of outrage have diminished.

The popovers are the best part, but they were burned on the bottom and very raw inside, like they were baked too hot. The rest of the food was sub par, the tuna was bland and looked like a flattened steak. The chicken was dry. The place needs a remodel badly. Menus were food stained. But the staff was great!!!

My wife and I went here for date night. As you pull up to the location you may feel like your going to some cabin in the woods. It is a restaurant though and it's great. As others have mentioned, they serve up these popovers the size of your head. They are served with soft honey butter. Fantastic!. The salad was good... an expected Caesar salad. The rib-eye, great! Overall this place is well worth the price. I have spent way more for significantly worse food at other places. We'd certainly go back here if in the area.

Locals Impression...Very classy restaurant with excellent food. This place has been around since prohibition, hence the copper moonshine distiller near the entrance. I've heard stories linking Anton's with Capone. It sits in the woods next to the Sauk River which make for the most picturesque dinner in town. The service and staff are always good! This is not only a great restaurant but a place with a ton of history connected to it.

Skip it. Or at least don't order a steak, or perhaps medium rare means well done at Antons.

Simply excellent! Great food and no wait. Our favorites are the popovers...try thr ribs and the great one burgers. If you are really lucky, you may even get to sit right next to the river!

Probably the nicest restaurant in the St Cloud area, and one I like to visit at least once a year. The food here has always been amazing, and the service here is great. Is it a bit pricy? Yes. Is it worth it? In my opinion, absolutely. Will hopefully return soon.

We were with a group with a reservation. Service was extremely slow, waiting more than 90 minutes for our food to arrive. Our dinners were all overcooked , lukewarm and dry.

Great Service and even better food! My friend and I hadn't been to this diner since our prom and we thought what a great way to celebrate! AND IT WAS! I had duck that was glazed.... I probably couldn't have cooked it better myself!

Cloud area.

I was in town for business and I wanted a nice place to have dinner. The location close to the river and the good service made the experience quite nice. I highly recommended the place!

Pleasantly surprised. After driving through an industrial area we came upon Anton's. It was a quiet haven tucked away next to the river. The service was good and the food was delicious.
